10 on Tuesday and Bookclub Wrap-Up

I can hardly move, the food at bookclub was so fabulous and so bad for you (actually for me, since I ate it!).  I understand now why we don't walk around all the time in comfy pants, we would weigh twice as much.  At least with my jeans on, I reach a point where they are screaming at me to stop eating that delicious Pear crisp.  The food was a success, not so much my bookchoices, perhaps a little editing would have been better for the group.  ADD doesn't really help me pare down choices, more = better to me.  Oh well, we finally picked one.  We're reading The World to Come by Dara Horn.

Since this is such a short, boring post, I thought I'd throw in a quick Ten on Tuesday since I Iiked the topic.

10 Things You Want, but Don’t Need

  1. A very quiet, very quick daily cleaning lady (No dog hair, YAY!)

  2. Fresh flowers in my house all the time

  3. The Cubs to Win the World Series

  4. An on-call babysitter

  5. The kind of wardrobe that makes people comment “She looks so put together.”

  6. A daily personal attendant to pick out my clothes, do my hair and makeup and watch G while I shower.

  7. To be 5 years younger

  8. A big family with 5 kids (ok, I’d settle for at least one more), but a body that looks like I haven’t had any

  9. Someone to professionally design my blog

  10. A great school for G – walking distance, low tuition, great teachers, great parents, great kids.

I can't keep my mouth shut!

When I started doing this a few weeks ago, my plan was to keep it to myself.  I lasted about a day and a half before I told J.  But, I told him he couldn't read it - that it was more like my personal diary.  Next up, I told my mom.  I showed it to her, but just so she could see the layout and the cute pictures of Georgia.  Then, at my bookclub champagne fest a few weeks ago, I blabbed to everyone there, but wouldn't give them the address.  Next, came a few moms in my playgroup.  We were having a discussion and I was talking about feeling like I was boring.  I said I'd found a whole new world in blogging mamas and other bloggers.  They wanted to know more.  I gave the whole thing up.  By the time I got home, I'd been Googled and read - by someone I knew!

Well, I couldn't very well have a few people in my playgroup know and not my family, so I gave it up to my sister.  Last night, J read it all.

Tomorrow night, I'll probably give it up to my bookclub.  I'm hosting at my house, so the champagne should flow freely to the non-pregnant ladies.  I don't know what my problem is, I guess I must want the traffic!

So, I'm going to just try to pretend that no one is reading it.

I'm so looking forward to bookclub.  We're having a comfy theme.  Everyone is coming dressed in loungewear or pjs and we're having all comfort foods.

Here's the menu so far:

  • Rootbeer floats
  • Grilled cheese sandwiches and Tomato Soup
  • Chili
  • Rolled up salami and cheese in a croissant rollup
  • Pear Crisp
  • Chocolate Chip/S'more cookies
  • Hopefully, I'll get it together for Meat Loaf and Mashed Potatoes or Real Mac & Cheese

The bookclub host gets to pick the book.  I'm feeling a little ashamed because it's been a long time since I read the book.  It is really unlike me, I love to read.  Lately, I just haven't had the bug.  Too much Tivo, too much Internet?  Whatever, it is going to change with this book!  My group has the host pick 3 or 4 books and then the group decides on one of them. I will definitely be fasting tomorrow to prepare for all the yummy calories and champers.

Here are my picks:

Bad Mama . . .

Stayed out too late. What kind of mom am I that I spend an entire Saturday hung over? Not a good one. Thank god, J was around to take on the parenting duties today. I tried, but just couldn't get out of bed for more than an hour.  Thank god for Noggin and Sprout and days like this.  Finally after naptime (miss G's and mine), I was okay enough to take care of my little pumpkin.
.
I spent the evening with my bookclub.  As always, lots of champagne drinking.  My bookclub is made up of my closest friends, so we get together even when we aren't discussing books.  We took a trip to Vegas last fall - great time.  Three of the women, including my sister are pregnant.  Being around all those pregnant people made me have one or maybe two glasses of champagne too many.  In the future, I'm sure I'll sit down to write about having an only child.  It's not my choice, it's J's.  I'd have at least a few more.  Of course, it wasn't easy the first time, so there is no guarantee that even if J agreed to it, I'd get pregnant.
.
Once I get through this round of pregnancies, I hope I can learn to deal with just having one.
